Default What are XE-R lobes?

What is the deal with these? From what I have heard they are just a steeper ramp...is that correct?
I am looking at having a custom cam grind done....can I use XE-R lobes with any Comp Cam, any lift, any duration, etc.?
If it helps...my cam will probably be in the 216/220 .540/.540 114 range.

the XE-R ramp rate is faster and the lift is greater than Comp's XE lobes. You can get XE-R lobes starting at 220* (.050) duration through 248*. A 220/220 (.581 lift) cam is the smallest you can do with XE-R lobes.
