Are these SHORTER PUSHRODS OK???
I blew my motor and when removing the STG 2 heads/cam i discovered that my hardend pushrods are shorter than the stock pushrods from my new engine? I will be using the stock heads ont he new engine with an X-1 cam, my question is will the shorter pushrods be ok? Forgive me if this is a stupid question. I just dont want to screw anything up.
How the motor was blown:
1. I was driving about 45mph in 6th gear then the car started lumping, so i was like crap, broken valvespring, so i pulled over onto a side street and as I did i noticed an exxcessively loud scraping noise coming from the valvetrain right before I was about to turn the key the car went BOOM. ------->Fastfoward to engine dissasembly, the piston is nowhere to be found, connecting rod broke in half, and there's a big hole in the sid eof the cylinder wall. Bottom side of the drivers side head is messed up, the valve is broken, and the bottom side is banged up pretty good.
Why Im not reusing the stage 2 heads:
2. I took the heads to MTI to see about repair, the heads are repairble, but it is out of my budget.
The New Heads that i have:
3. Also i should mention that the stock heads i will be using have been machined by MTI and have ISKY 6105 1.430 Dual coil springs @ an installed hieght of 1.8 (MTI said that was stock install hieght). They also have 2.02/1.56 Ferrea Valves, and Ferrea Titanium retainers.
The Pushrods that i have are Comp Cams 7.350
Thanks
Alden
