No, you would have to get the valve seats done to match the valves. But you can install up to a 2.02/1.57 w/o changing the seats.

Default Valve/Valve seat question for the experts

I understand the biggest valve for the stock seat are 2.02/157, so my question is can i just get some valves done up that size and plug and play or do i need to open up the seats to match the valves and porting? Seems like the valves would be riding much higher.thanks

No disrespect to George C but using 2.02 and 1.57 valves with stock valve job would still lap in, with valves only riding .010" higher than stock valve diameters. I think flow testing this way would be interesting to see effect it had on flow.No guarantee it would be a positive gain but still worth investigating in my opinion.

Yea, but now more valve is in the way without opening up the seat. I bet it would flow worse.

Hi swirl heads are pretty complicated in respect to valve shape and size changes. The mixing of flow from the different areas of port as it passes the valve are what determines its total flow numbers. I have experimented alot with this phenomena, something as simple as laying a pen diagonally across port floor when testing can raise flow 20 cfm at certain lifts. The reason is the pen disturbs the lower port floor air flow and it seems to organize it to complement what is flowing in upper port areas. My point is little changes can have dramatic effects when there is several actions happening in these heads.R+d, trial and error, not always as simple as it seems. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
