Try a smaller puller, or just use 2 arms instead of 3, thats what worked for me.

http://www.ls1howto.com

read the cam swap section and follow the steps from the point you are at. Do a little at a time re-read and proceed.
pay attention to the pickup tube little blue ring, make sure you put a new one in and really make sure you do not pinch it. If you do you'll have to tear down again after startup if oil pressure is low.

This is what Im using but it's missing some of the key things I think as far as how to get some of this stuff off. But I'm Managing best as possible.

Update: Got timing chain on, new oil pump on and oil pan back up. Now I'm about to start the 2nd BIG part. The springs! Wooo Hooo!!!

I'm not really trusting this little POS crowbar tool. Doesnt look like it wil support the springs to well. I rented one from autozoen that is a little C clamp looking thing with a T handle on it. Someone said it worked prety well but I cant even seem to get it on the damn spring. No instructions for my dumb ***!

Oh boy - I have to laught a little reading this post today...because I earned the laugh myself today.

The goal today was for my helper and I to get my pulley off, remove the old cam, and install the new one.

Well, the pulley came off easily enough, but trying to get the old cam out was a BITCH. It kept getting stuck about 1/4 of the way out!

Afetr almost an hour and trying different ways, I took a 2 minute break to pee, by the time I got back out to the garage, 'bingo', somehow the cam had come out.

Getting the new one is was a bit of a struggle, but abotu 15 mins and it was in.

Next step is the hard part, swapping out the springs, thats next weekends project - oh joy!

SO I returned the crappy autozone spring compressor and bought one from orielly. It knocked out cyl #1 in like 20 minutes. got to #6 and springs came off pretty eaysy, go to put new ones back on and the inner spring keeps snapping loose from the jaws of the compressor. I got threw with the 1st cylinder at 3:30, started on the 6th about 15 minutes later. I've been working on this fuckn cylinder since and Havnt been able to get the last lock all the way in before the spings shoots loose again and I have to start over. Now I lost one of the locks and I didnt get extras so I'm fucked until monday probably.

That sucks, you should really get one of those "Larry" tools (so many different names for it, but this is the name most people know it by) or make one yourself. It's worth it's weight in gold when swapping out the valvesprings.

Be absolutely sure the crank/cam gears are dot to dot and don't leave anything in the oil pan.

Get a peice of flat stock at the hardware store and make one yourself. Its not that hard. Use a drill or hack saw and a file to make the notch. If you cant do that then I rent out the complete package but I'll taylor it to your needs.
Unless stangkiller is close to you and can deliver I'll overnight it to you. Crane dual spring tool. pm me for details. I have permission to post my rental offer ( its in the tool section). Others have used it and like the deal.

Man I just got to the part were I put my cam in, literally took me 30 seconds to get the trex out and 30 seconds to get the F14 in, so far the toughest part of this project has been getting the crank pulley off, damn advance auto puller is horrible, I think I need to buy my own for the future!

I used the advanced auto parts loner puller with no problem getting the pulley off.. but when i needed to pull off the crank spocket to put double roller the advanced one was to short..so i found a 8 inch 3 jaw puller that worked fine for getting the sprocket off...

Posi-Lock is by far the best 3 leg puller bar none. They are cheap, but once you use one you'll want to throw all the other pullers in the ocean. Posi-Lock turns a two man job into a one man job. With those cheap pullers you rent or buy at the local auto parts store you need 5 hands to get them started. Not so with Posi-Lock. That's why they call it Posi-Lock. You can't use the jaw type spring tools with dual springs. The jaw doesn't compress the inner spring and it doesn't do you any good to only compress the outer one. Tim's tool works great on duals or singles.

I was going to heat it up in the oven and see if it will slide on. I have a longer bolt too.
