918 Springs......comments please!
Getting ready to have my T1 and 918's installed...........installer says he has heard of a lot of breakage lately with 918's ........please give me some advise, after talking to Comp Cams, they said they will exchange them for new 918's with a different shot peening process......so are these any good or should I try something else? Please advise..........and TIA <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" /> Gary

If they are offering to exchange, I would do it...there have been a lot more 918 breaks coming up, compared to before...

make sure when you install them that you check the installed height and the closed spring pressure we have seen some installed heights as low as 1.750" and closed pressures as high as 150# which is way too much for a hydraulic lifter maybe that's why people are having some problems when you faise the installed height up to 1.80" then the closed pressure is closer to 125# which is much better setup in my opinion

I would maybe take the exchanged ones if they offer..I have 4000 plus on my 918s..I think most of the breaks happened quick in first 500 miles or so and newer ones I think..mine were bought in like april..no problems and they have seen 6600 lots already..so far so good.A bit paranoid but planning on a dual spring when I get new heads hopefully next year.So if they last another few months or so and couple next spring that is all I need.
