The local GM dealer quoted me $147 (or so?) for new wires for a 2000. He said the 87-98 ls1's are $47. Is this correct? WTF? How can freakin WIRES be 150 bones? Help.

I'm with RT!! No way I'd pay that much for stock wires. Pick up a set of Magnecores for $70. Guaranteed for life, and excellent fitment. grabbed mine from LPE and had 'em in two days! That's quick service!
Now, my shiftlight on the other hand.....

Sucks, doesn't it? Used to be you went to the dealer where you bought your car and gave them your VIN and you got a discount.
The salesman tries to get you at the front door, GM gets you at the back door.
You can get some MSD 8.5s for less than half that price.

I thing sponsor had the red gm wires on for a lot less..msd are a lot less..I had msd on for year or so no problems but since I just put on tts headers figured it might be good idea to get some super heat resistant wires..got accel 9000...comments..msd looked nicer red matched my car..silver boots on accels look ok though but they are just boring black. Not a real big deal though. Also for some dumb reason accel made them even shorter than the msd..didn't compare them to stock. All I know is being so darn short makes it a b..ch to get them properly and easily on the back two passenger plugs..the method I used was to put number 8 into the coil and number six into the coil and then hook up the plug ends..for number eight it was a serious bear trying to get that plug boot in and clicked on since the accel was ridiculously short.I am lucky with my tts I can easily access number eight from under the car.
That did the trick.Car runs same as before,I put the msd in the factory metal boots to try to keep them from cooking from the headers.I do like that I don't need the factory heat shields..they seem a bit hokey to me with those springs..heard of someone who took the springs off might be a good idea.Anyway think jegs has the accel for like 70 bucks.I live in canada so just go them from local parts store and paid about 100US..oh well.got them in couple of days.If you plan on headers then the accel are a good choice I think.Good for something like 1200 degrees..no radio noise.
