I got one of the cams from RP Motorsport. WAY LOW torq range...peaked at about 3500rpms. I'm on a stock headed car too. This cam + LS6 intake i went from 316/337 non tuned (most bolt-ons) to 394/422 w/tuning. this thing held above 350 rhtrq from 3500 to about 5800 according to the dyno they did. It sounds really good too.

The torque on my car (224/224 114) which I dynoed locked and unlocked:
Locked: 362 ft-lbs @ 4800
Unlocked 485 ft-lbs @ 3200

BTW, those are excellent numbers for a stock head car <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I wonder how lumpier the ASA idle is than a 226/234 112. A number of folks run that with good results.

Are you saying that high lift is bad, or that it just isn't needed? At what points to you consider "high-lift" to have been achieved? How would you answer the theory of "overlifting" - e.g. even though peak lift may be greater than you can "use" on a head you will still have more area under the curve (flow-wise) - since the valve spends more time at higher lift values - since it opens quicker. Remember - the amount of time spent at peak lift is actually very small?.

Are you drawing a distinction between a street race and a drag strip race? Are you implying that at a drag race the TR224 cam is faster, or are you implying that dyno numbers do not translate to real world performance. How do you define a street race?

What do you guys think of this ASA cam with stock heads, NO Headers, but the following:

LS6 intake
y-pipe
catback
airlid

I plan on sustained high rpm driving on roadcoarse.

Thanks,
Dennis

On a stock headed, stock manifold car you "may" see 20 rwhp from a cam. These cams are designed to breath, and will not run good on a completely stock motor...

*bump*

Should I take the lack of response as an admission of fault? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Why would you remove the heads to mill them .030 but not give them at least a mild porting at the same time?

The cam will help w/o headers, but a cam + headers will make a huge difference. I'd use the LS6 intake $$ towards a set of headers.

What revived this post?

Jason99~ I thought you sold your car, and the cam was changed?

Ragtime 99,

I forgot to mention that I would do a light port job also. Oh, and since I have an O1, it already has the LS6 intake.
