The installer swapped the oil pump for a new ARE fully ported pump. He says the oil pressure is much higher now <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I need to have a little pcm work done now and I should have the car back by mid next week <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I'll report back on my new pressures.

Thanks for the input guys!

Mike

I dont want to rain on anyones parade but KATECH doesnt add any PSI increase to there deburred 02 LS6 pump.

They run stock oil psi which is somewhere around 35 at idle hot and 65 under Wot.I called them and asked about this and they told me its the same darn pump they run in there HIGH DOLLAR C5R engines.

I dont think anything over 70 PSI at WOT is good.U can have consumption issues as told by people with these rediculous high psi pumps.

Idle should be somewhere at 35/40 HOT and 65/70 WOT.I trust KATECH when it comes to this subject....

JS,

Thanks for the info. I was finding my idle pressure to be around 22-25 which is too low for my tastes. My WOT pressure would not exceed 58 and I have seen 53. I also have seen 40-42 at 4500 rpm (this is just not enough).

I'm not looking for 80 psi or something. Idle 35+, 4000 rpm 50+, and WOT 65-70 would be just fine with me.

Mike

JAS,
I see 60 psi at cold idle and 42 at hot idle. I cruise around at 55 psi and it will climb around 70 under WOT.

I was very glad to get this fixed <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> I just hope no bottom end damage occurred when the oil pressure was low <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> .

Where do you get the ARE oli pump,I think thats what happen to my other engine the rod on the passengers side broke and messed up all the engine block, and on the berings you could see that it had alot of weare. It seems to me that that is a problem with the ls1 since the pump is in the front and the oil pick up has a small openig in it.

You can get it from ARE or Speed Inc. There are probably other sponsors as well.

Katech also has a nice oil pump.
