These springs are an excellent dual spring for sure as the stock rocker arms have no issues like the normal dual setups. We use them a lot on the higher lift or more aggressive packages. Thsi is a true dual spring, not a single wth a damper as mentioned previously I believe.
With that said, I would not call them a drop in by any means. The "normal" stock installed height is 1.800", but I have seen them as low as 1.725" which can cause a heck of a problem in a high lift (XE-R Lobe) cam. heights should always be checked. Also, the seat pressure at 1.800" is about 150lbs or so. This may be great for a solid roller, 7500RPM consistently type setup, but 120lbs of seat pressure give or take 5lbs, is a good setting for any performance street car. Otherwise there is just more stress on all the valvetrain as well as the timing set without any benefit. We always cut the spring pockets and use a special locator to get a 1.825-1.840 installed height with the 1116's. Of course this is with the heads off.
Good spring choice for certain applications for sure and use this info as you want. Trying to avoid another "918" dilemma that would not be the springs or REV's fault.

Xaon, did you happen to measure the installed spring height on all once you were finished?
If so did they all come out close to 1.840? I have two sets I am going to be installing in the next weekend or two and am just curious how close they are to advertised.

All I can really say is to make sure your spring compressor will pull down both springs, otherwise you will have LOADS of fun <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />
FWIW. I've put over 400 miles on the new springs so far with the 224/224 .581/.581 112LSA Comp Cams XE-R cam and so far so good. I've been doing alot of tuning with the MAFT and am hoping to get to HRP this weekend to see how it does.

Mike Norris cleverly points out the advantages of the REV-1116 dual springs. It's a great alternative to the dreaded single spring breakage problems. There are several major differnces to point out between the ti retainers and spring locators that A&A Corvettes are selling versus the REV ti retainers. The A&A retainers provide 1.840" installed height WITH the included spring base. They require NO machining of the spring pockets and thus, the heads do not need to be removed. They are also engineered to clear the underside of the rocker arms so no clearancing is necessary. Too much spring pressure and coil bind. The REV retainers typically install the springs at 1.725" to 1.750" and that puts spring pressure at 165+lbs. A bit too much for the typical street/strip cams. Increase the installed height to 1.840" and the pressure drops to a more comfortable 130lbs and the maximum valve lift allows up to .620" lift. The A&A spring kit provides this in a drop in package. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Good info all along in here. The height needs to be checked with the spring off with a height micrometer in the springs place.
The A&A setup uses the different locator and retainer, but intalled height should still be verified. If the stock height can have a difference of .075" (1.800-1.725") and the 1.840" A&A installed height is based on a starting with a 1.800 stock height, you could end up with a little as 1.765" installed height. It will still handle the lift, just have way too much seat and open pressure as well as the added stress on the spring. Basically looking for a problem when it can be easily avoided.
Like I mentioned previously, the 1116 is a great spring and we have been using them for aout a year and a half now with no issues, but these are on prepped heads. Not knocking A&A either, just trying to help folks keep away from problems. use this info as you please.

I have the revs in my heads but have not been put back on the car yet. I have the thunder 230 cam, is this a cam too high a lift for these springs if they sit lower than stock? If so what should I do to correct this? Thanks.

Will these work with the T&D shaft mounted rocker arms Mike?Also what should seat pressure be set at with a solid roller cam?Cam specs 230/230 600/600.
