honestly i never really noticed this before so i can't say if it just started happening..however,
i have a m6 TA with a 9" & 4.30's
stock motor and internals etc..
now with my et streets out back i was messing around and launching the car to see what works best on the street! well i was leaving from about 4500 and it was hooking and going good...
here's my question.. when i was staging from 4500 (the clutch was in) oil psi was at like 50psi.. as soon as i let the clutch out it drops to like 40 and then the cars starts to move and the rpm's fall down to like 3800 the oil psi drops low as shiznitz...like 20 or something...then swings back up as the rpms come up.... at like 5800 or so its back to 40psi...
i haven't had any real noticeable problems with my oil pump i do have 72k miles on my car and lots of track passes... could the gauge in the car just be a little slow kinda like a stock tach is with 4.30's in the rear???
any help is greatly appreciated... don't know if i need to worry

later

I honestly don't know what the problem could be, but usually the issue with the oil pumps is that the check valve gets stuck and then you get no oil pressure. So if you have a problem with the oil pump, it's not the usual problem. What is your oil pressure like when driving around normally?
And yes, I think the oil pressure gauge on my car is very slow to respond. I'm thinking about replacing it the next time I pull the manifold off.

oil psi under normal driving is 38 to 45 psi... cold start around 50 psi...
.. i will replace the sending unit in a few weeks when i change the manifold and cam out... just was curious as to whether i should do my cam bearings at the same time..
i can't believe gm didn't make some provision to take the damn oil pressure sending unit out without having to take the friggin intake manifold off...GAY!
