Default 5.3 Block, How big can I go?

I got a 5.3 short block that needs a rebuild, what can I do with it?

I was wondering on the bore size and how big I could bore it? It will be a high compression spray motor. What are the specs, and what are the differences between a 5.3 and a 6.0 block? Thanks.

Biggest 5.3L block I have heard about is a 351 CID

Took mine to 3.910 (348cid). That's about .130 over. Wouldn't recommend much beyond that though.

I hope you mean bore it to 4.00 and destroke it with the 4.8 crank.
If that's not what you meant then the 6.0L pistons won't fit and if you throw the 4.8L crank into the 5.3L, then you get a 4.8L.....

The max you can go on the 5.3 block is 3.910 +-.005. We have sonic tested many and this about where you want to be bore wise. The cheapest combo is a 6.0 crank with 5.7 rods and pistons to make a 5.7. Call Barry or Wade at the shop and they prob. have some stuff around for a good price. The max stroke you can go is 4.125 which will yield 396 inches with the 3.905 bore. Hope this helps.
