Can anyone answer a couple cam questions ASAP?
I just ordered a LS6 for my 01 SS, its got a 6 speed, SLP LTs, cutout/SLP CB, and a 150 shot. MMS is recommending the 224 on a 114 LSA. They are also recommending a set of double valve springs and tit. retainers. My question is... is the cam im going with gonna give me the most power, work well with nitrous and have good drivability? The car is a daily driver and goes about 45 miles each way to work every day. Would I be better off on a 112 LSA or possibly with a 229 cam? Plese let me know! Also which valve springs to go with figuring the rev limiter set at 6600-6800 for the stock LS6 heads.

Go with their 229 cam with tuning. If your not gonna tune then stick with the 224 and it will work fine with nitrous. Also I would go with the 1116 REV dual springs. Those look very promising.

What are the upsides and downsides to the 229 cam? and on a 112 or 114? I kinda know the difference, but dont know which one will work better in my car. I will be getting tuning done hopefully a couple weeks after the install at MMS

The 112 will shift the power peak down about 200 rpm and make the power band ever so peakier. It will also make the cam idle slightly rougher which will make off idle drivability slightly worse. If you plan on passing emmisions you can kiss the 229 goodbye. I personally think the 229 cam is fine drivability wise, hell I drive with a 226/236 all day long with no tuning and don't have a problem with drivability and thats on a 110lsa. It's all based on personal preference. Try to find someone you know with similar cams and take their car for a spin and see what kind of theorhetical drivability problems exist.

Re: Can anyone answer a couple cam questions ASAP?
there is one guy out here running a 224 cam and he loves it... however I dont know anyone with a 229 or anyone with different LSAs to compare to... it sounds like the 114 is a better purchase though if the 112 is very peaky as I want a smooth powerband. I did see a few posts on here where the 229 cam was dynoing 15 horse over the 224... is this always the case, is the cam gonna make the car faster or is it just "dyno power" that I will never actually see ?
