More power from boost or compression? I am going to strap some ***** on the C5 pretty soon but want to do the best for the money. I was thinking ATI w/ heads for @500+RW. My question is should I run 6-7psi which is what they say safe max is on stock heads. OR get the 6L heads since they drop compression 7 tenths. That would let me run another 2-3lbs wouldn't it? I think the boost and head design would make more power than the stock head and lower boost. What is so weak on these motors. My stock Lighting motor holds 16psi no problems and it is a stinking F*rd?

Re: More power from boost or compression? I would think using the 6L heads to drop compression and increasing the boost would give you more power. I think the gay ford can handle more boost because its an 8.5:1 motor. Or is it 9:1? Still its better for boost than 10.1:1

Re: More power from boost or compression? Yes, the motor has 60K on it, seriously highway miles by an old man though. A lawyer owned it and drove state to state in it. I have seen guys on Corvette.com with 02 Z's running 550RW with H/C and ATI D1. I think it will hold 500rwhp especially with low rpm's 6000 and under. Why?

highest compression ls1 is about 450 rear wheel (346, hydraulic roller cam, 12.0:1)& race gas
highest boost ls1 is about 600 rear wheel
(346, hydraulic roller cam, 8.5:1)& pump gas
more horsies gained from boost than compression though you do loose a fair amount of throttle response
*these numbers approximate*
