Default Thinking of building 382.....Need suggestions

I want a daily driven Lunati 382 motor, so I want to know a good cam, heads, and intake option. I am going with Hooker headers and exhaust. Also, for those who have a 382 Lunati kit, what kind of power, laptimes, speed trap, and gas mileage. And one more thing, those are also using a power adder like nitrous or FI.

Look at my sig!
I have a 382 stroker. if you want a very nice cam with no drivability issues, go with what I have (X1). If you what more power go with something like the R1 from MTI. You do not have to get the R1 but something like that from the vender you like. For heads get something like GTP, MTI, etc. But, make sure to get nothing bigger than 2.08 valves on the intake. 2.05 is my choice for a 3.9" bore because it will flow better. For headers I recommend FLP or TTS long tubes.

Making a custom 3" Y-pipe will help you make more power for sure! (That is what I have).

Hope this helps!

I would go with a shop like ARE or MTI and have them put together a package for you, with heads, cam, and built bottom end. It will give nice NA results and be ready to withstand a big shot of nitrous.

You really need to decide if you are going boost; you'll want lower compression pistons and boost ported heads if you go FI.

Check my sig' for the stroker details. I get 22 to 24 MPG on freeway trips at 80 MPH. MTI has done all the work on the car basically. It is set up in the stealth mode as a major sleeper. Very mild cam and conservative stall on the TC. It's primarily just a fun daily driver. As someone else has suggested, going with one of our tuner/sponsers gets you a mostly trouble free proven package and "peace of mind".

I once got 27 MPG on an ALL road trip across Kansas, although most road trips are about 24-25.
I generally get about 20-21 around town and comuting to work.

Check sig for mods.
