Ouch! Sorry dude. Pull the motor, rebuild with better parts and go from there. It could be a blessing in disguise.

I did the same thing when putting my rockers back on. Luckily i didnt turn it over, or even torque the rockers down yet. Once i hand tightened all the rockers i took a quick break and went to get my valve-covers. guess what was sitting inside them.

This thread is depressing. Best of luck man, you'll love it more when you have fresh parts in there and will appreciate it more when you've spent the extra time on it.

That sucks man. Note to self, next time I do valvetrain work turn motor over by hand first.

always a good idea. I setup our valve train today, and installed the valve covers. I always turn the motor over 2 times to retorque the rockers at 360deg., then again at 1 80deg. from there.

I couldn't... on a C5 you can't really get a wrench on the balancer, and I could only turn it using my hand when the rockers were off. On my old SS it was never a big deal but this stupid thing has the steering rack in the way.

You didnt take off the rack? How the hell did you get the crank pulley off?

You can.. Put a socket on the alternator, turn the motor backwards, works great. Tip for next time..
