How to break-in new LS1
I drove mine from the dealership to the racetrack.
(@ wide open throttle)then to the dyno and back to the track,ect.
I have abused my car since day 1 and it loves it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
I do agree with colonel and others on the 500 mi oil change,though.
spend 2 days learning how to drive a standard transmission.
put a lid and skip shift eliminator on it.
spend 2 more days learning how to drive a standard transmission.
Hit the race track for some runs. Bounce off the top speed limiter on the way to the track.
Spend another week learning to drive some more, go to the track again.
Get a cutout installed
go to the track again and run 12.82
go to the dyno and crank out 333rwhp/351rwtq
Break in period finished! (all done within 500 miles of purchase)
xaon's recommended service intervals:
oil change every 3k-6k miles w/10w30 dino oil.
50 miles -> replace air lid and filter (ok... you can replace just the lid <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> )
5000 miles -> new clutch and long tube headers
7500 miles -> new springs
10000 miles -> replace cam
15000 miles -> shooting for 12 bolt, but not sure if the funds will make it!
Your mileage may vary <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> I beat the hell out of all my cars and they seem to all run extremely stout and last forever. (and never burnt so much as a drop of oil)
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
My LS1 does not use a drop of oil.
I'm in my forties, have a little old school in me.We were taught to break em in the way your going to drive it.
One more ticket and I'm screwed. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
I need to park mine,can't keep my foot out of it.
