Question Bad Need Of Help!

Okay, I dont know if this is the correct spot for this question. But I am in bad need of help. I developed a issue with my LS1. Its a 2001 Camaro and for some reason when ever its at 3000RPM or above it makes this god awful winding noise that gets louder at higher RPM's. But if I put the clutch in. The noise goes away. I rev the engine in neutral it goes away. Its a new clutch the valve train is fine. What would cause this. If this is the wrong place for this question let me know. I dont have alot of experiance with LS1 Tech sorry.

If it is gone with the clutch in it seem's like a no brainer.

sounds like a bearing or gear in the trans is getting ready to go.
