Re: Used camshaft. The components used w/ any cam can have an affect on how well the cam transitions to being reused: The most obvious signs are visible wear or discoloring.

also to answer your question with roller (mostly) camshafts of today the lifters do not put much wear at all on the lobes. BUT i would always be nervious to buy someones used cam as you dont know what you are getting. it is STILL a risk in buying something as important as a camshaft that is a wearable item. i would not buy a higher milage cam, but that is just me personally.

Re: Used camshaft. you should be fine, people sell used cams all the time. I'm buying one from my buddy in a week or two. Nobody has ever said that you cant use used cams
