Used camshaft.
The components used w/ any cam can have an affect on how well the cam transitions to being reused: The most obvious signs are visible wear or discoloring.
I've sold my old cams w/out incident.

also to answer your question with roller (mostly) camshafts of today the lifters do not put much wear at all on the lobes. BUT i would always be nervious to buy someones used cam as you dont know what you are getting. it is STILL a risk in buying something as important as a camshaft that is a wearable item. i would not buy a higher milage cam, but that is just me personally.
