I NEED MORE POWER! Cam suggestions
I want the biggest power cam for drag racing.
Heads will stay stock for now,I want to set some 'Cam only M6 records'.
I was thinking a split reverse 230 cam.
Give me dyno #'s(graphs),exact sizes,springs,ect.
I am not concerned with drivablity,I am concerned with kickin' major ***
at the track.
I may get a crazy Idea of trying to go 10's on just a cam. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
they will all do well. pick one out of a hat and tune the crap out of it. make sure that the ENTIRE car is working with the cam.
<strong>you have picked a good cam for that. why dont you do heads, and spray a 150 shot, make a run for the 9s on a stock bottom end? that would be really cool!</strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">How do you know my plans? All in good time ,Nick.
BTW-it will be alot more than a 150 shot. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
<strong>M6? Stupid me... Sorry... <img border="0" alt="[Banging Head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" /> </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I was about to say <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" /> HAHAHA
10's cam only, now thats a goal <img border="0" alt="[chug]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_chug.gif" /> good luck...

The reverse split cams are designed to help compensate for the intake being a restriction, BUT..... you need a free flowing exhaust for it to work well.
With that combo I can see LOW 11's this winter with stock heads still on the car.

I have been very happy with how this cam has worked so far. The times in the sig were in Memphis in June when the Density Altitude was around 2500'. The car was spinning on nearly every run. With some better air, more weight reduction (~3400lbs now), and a better 60', I can't see why low low 11s wouldn't be attainable.

I'm running the Comp 918s with the Comp 772 Titanium retainers.
Here is a dyno graph comparing the 224 to the 230 cam (through the y-pipe/cutout):

Think about this though. Dual cutouts will only ADD weight to the car. With 18" extensions you will drop the weight of the y-pipe and catback (Im guessing 50lbs) And everyone knows how much 01-Z loves to take weight off the car. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

That's TOO MUCH WEIGHT!
BadHabitBird knows me all too well. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
Whenever I do the cam,I will dyno it with just the cam.
Then consider massaging the exhaust.
The best way to find power,one thing at a time. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Provide evidence that a Car with heads and cam witha 150 shot with Stock bottom end ran 9's without breaking the next day. BS
