Default XE-R cam vs. Thunder cam

What is the difference between the XE-R cam (224/224 .567/.567)and the Thunder cam (224/224 .561/.561) besides more lift? I always hear that Thunders cams have 'faster ramp rates' than other cams.. what does that mean? Does it benefit and if so, how?
What would be better for me with either of these cams for head compression? 10.8 or 11.3/11.5?
What about with a 227/224 cam? Thanks.

Default Re: XE-R cam vs. Thunder cam

The XE-R cam has .581 lift, the XE cam has .568.
The Thunder ramps are very close to the XE-R lobes which are faster ramps than the XE. The faster ramps reduce total duration for a given duration at .05, which can improve idle quality and increase low lift flow.

"The faster ramps reduce total duration for a given duration at .05"

Another way to say the same thing is that faster ramps increase the duration at .05 for a given total duration.
