Default High-Perf springs don't last???

I saw the other thread about the 918s and people were talking about changing them every 10-15K miles!

Is that only for racing, or for daily driving as well? And are all aftermarket performance springs like this? I was going to get a cam put in, but if I have to change springs every 3rd time I change my oil...geez.

Someone please clear this up for me.

It isn't the springs, but rather the fast opening, high lift cams that are the problem. I have a friend with way more than 15K on a set of springs in his T1 cammed '98 Z28 and he has had no problems. I figure I will put 30K on my 918's before I swap the heads anyway

Neither the 941 or the 918 are really up to the task of a fast ramp high lift cam. Katech had bullentin a few days ago showing how the 918's don't do a good job of controlling the valve train at 6,400 rpm. Under 6,400 rpm the 918's did ok. With that said many have rev'd 918's to 7000rpm and the 918's lived.

REV makes a dual spring kit for stock heads. Machining the head isn't required.

I would check out the REV dual spring kit before I would do 918's.

So you think with 90% highway miles, I'd be good for at least 30K miles with 918s and a cam with .560ish lift?

Thanks.
