Default Advice on cam please!!!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for taking the time to read. I have a 00 Formula with every bolt on made for LS1. I had my car dynoed before ASP Pulley and SSRA Ram Air and after SLP Long tubes with a 3400 Vig. My car dynoed 342 RWHP and 355 RWTQ. This was thru the stock exhuast with the cutout closed and the convertor locked.

I have since taken the plunge and am doing heads and cam. I would like your thoughts on my cam selection. I went with a .581 224/224 112. Now, I ahve heard different opinions on this cam, and am seeking your advice. Some say it will make GREAT power, and some say it's too much lift. Did I choose a cam with too much lift? I am still waiting for the heads, but I went ahead and did the cam anyway. I haven't gotten the car back from Speed yet but I am sure they will do a great job. I am having the car completely dynotuned with LS1 Edit. I was wondering what kind of gains I can expect from this cam, and what kind of driveability I can expect? The cam will be paired with TEA 5.3L heads Stage 2.

Any and all advice is appreciated...

Thanks,
RYNO

That oughtta be a killer cam. That's gotta be close to what the 918's can handle. Might think about double springs...

Any clearance issues w/ *those* heads & *that* cam?

When you say "every bolt-on", are you including the LS6 IM?

Should be able to hit 400rwhp w/ proper tuning.

I think you should be fine. I've been researching cams myself and right now think i'll go with either a TR 224/224 .561/.561 112 or a Comp Cams 224/224 .563/.563 112. but I don't think that .581 is too much.

Yep, will be just fine. I think it'd perform well. but i would look into clearance issues that MIGHT arise with that cam and the heads. it's not something you want to find out AFTER you get it all back together.

Chris

and yes he means EVERY bolt on POSSIBLE!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
