I think I may have broken something...not sure what it is. Last night out of nowhere I started getting a very audible TICK. It seems to be coming from the bottom of the engine...I have hooker long tubes, so I figured it might be the header bolts backing out or something like that. I looked around the headers and didn't have any black soot around them. Any idea? What else could it be? Spun bearing? bent pushrod? I got on it a few times and don't seem to have lost any power...just sounds horrible.

does it get louder with more rpm or what?

 

The tick gets quicker with the rpm's...eventually, you can't even hear it anymore beause I have duals w/xpipe and dumps before the axle.

 

hmm id say its something floating around in the bottom end, id crack the oil pan and take a look see.

 

How long ago did you put those headers on? I bet its the air pump "flutter" valves...My 99 made a ticking noise about 2 weeks after my header install. It was the valves.Can you get a sound clip?

 

Headers have been on for a couple of months now. I know what the air pump flutter sounds like and I don't "think" that's it...sounds like it's coming from the bottom end.. Hmmm...
