I would say no, but I am not an expert. The hot cam kit comes with new springs and retainers. That should tell you something right there.
Also, why the hot cam? With the ground breaking advances they are making in cams for the LS1, the HotCam is just way to small. Dont sell your self short. Save some more money and go with a larger cam and some 918 springs. the 918's can use the stock retainers.
Hope that helps.

Hot cam comes with the LS6 springs that you will need. Great little cam for the price. 400 bucks for the whole kit. But i am looking to go bigger and have heard way to many stories about the 918 springs breaking so i would stay away from those. Just the info i have gathered.

I am going with the hotcam because I had one offered to me for nothing. I am also building a stroker for next year so I am not concerned with a bigger cam for the current motor. Do you think I could use the stock Spring retainers with a new set of keepers?
You need stiffer springs to prevent valve float and valves hitting piston tops at higher RPMs.
Get a set of 918 springs. With them, you can use your existing retainers and keepers. The new 918 springs have a blue stripe to tell them apart from the old batch they had a problem with.
