Default LS1 vs LS6

So what exactly are the differences?

LS6 only comes in Z06? I thought the C5 had LS1.

The C5 comes with the LS1. The ZO6 comes with the LS6. Two different cars, two different engines.

I think you've got the generalities. Head castings, valves and attending stuff, cam, different computer software, clutch and different transmission gearing,..... The intake has been common for the last couple years as has the block so we hear. I'm not sure about the exhaust manifolds but the catback is different on the Z06. I've run out of gray cells........
What else guys.

So would using LS6 pistons in a LS1 be a smart idea? Maybe rods/crank?

rods and crank are the same. I wouldnt fool with the pistons. They are too similar to worry about. If changing pistons, I would go aftermarket.

only notable differences in an LS1 and LS6 is the heads, and cam.

Intake and Exhaust Manifold are shared.
