Question on cam size to engine size
In General terms, could I compare these 2 in correct ratio....224 is to LS1 as T rex is to L92/LS7?
A 224 is a mild cam to a 346 ci. so a 248 cam such as a T rex would be mild to a L92, correct?
The reason I am asking this is because I going with a head/cam combo as soon as my drivetrain is strengthened. I already have suspension and all boltons to accompany this.
I am hoping to make the 400 WHP+ mark with the 224 cam and head package. In addition to LTs, ORY ( soon to be replaced with TSP TDs) and a SLP LM... As well as a powerbond 25% U/d pulley, SLP lid with LS6 manifold ( stock since its an 02) I also have an Aluminum flywheel and will be getting a ford 9" soon with 3.73s or 3.90s.
The head and cam will be a temporary setup until summer of 2008, when I will get a larger displacement engine, probably a L92. and I was hoping a big cam would be compatible with my gearing and larger displacement.
and a year from that ( 2009) I was thinking of forced induction.
so my questions are:
Besides knowing there are many more factors in comparing those cams, could I generally compare them in that sense? and would that be about accurate?
should I stick with my stock MAF and T/B and lid, hen I go bigger displacement? ( I may port my Throttlebody for the 224 cam)
what would be a big displacement, blower cam of choice. would a T rex work alright with a 6.8 - 7.2 liter displacement...before and after FI?
Sorry if I am coming off unclear.

Dont know why you are comparing a Trex with a LS7 to begin with. And no a Trex is not gonna be a big enough cam for a 6.8/7.2. Trex is a good cam for a 346/347 or maybe a mild 383 stroker combination. But definately wouldnt flow good enough for something the size your talking

I re read your post again. It is some what confusing cause you are talking about different set ups and throwing all kinds of numbers out.. Your best be is go with a TREX cam and forget the 224 cam and heads. With just the trex with stock heads you will pick up the same if not more and save alot of money than gettin the 224 cam and heads

I should restate what I am saying..
for a 346 I want a 224 cam ...
what cam would be suitable for a 6.8/7.0 liter with the same characteristics as the previous setup. Im just going with bigger displacement.
