Is this Crane spring enough for my setup? http://www.cranecams.com/?show=brows...mber=144832-16
They say 112 pounds for seat pressure at the stock install height of 1.800. Is that enough for all my mods. Keep in mind a 150 shot. Just wondering if i should up grade to a more expensive/better quality spring.

Did you shim your springs? I bent a couple intake valves last season. I had the springs shimmed this year and replaced the valves. Now im tring to figure out a melting spark plug issue. Im going to have the springs checked out. How many miles do you have on your springs?

Just to let you know i was told at the installed height of 1.800 which is stock you should have about 135 pounds. The cranes only have 112. I had them shimmed for the additional pressure.

i use #144832-16 springs in all my LS1 engines, and have never had an issue. you will be perfectly fine using those springs, but for a little added spring pressure, put them in around 1.750-1.760, and you can achieve 130lbs. on the seat, but overall, 112 is okay to use.

Do one of two things, increase the seat pressure with shims (which go under the seat so if the seals are on they need to come off) or go with the Crane 833 valve springs. They are more in line with the Comp 921's and have higher seat pressure and over the nose pressure. Don't just install them without measuring the installed height, that is the path to big problems down the road. I would shoot for a minimum of 135# on the seat, then with the installed height you need to figure out if the lift is too much for the spring by running the calcs.

833 are their best. 822s are like 918s (though not conical) and are ok for cams with medium lift (up to 580) and medium RPM (like 6500). I would consider them as a stock replacement personally.

I run the 832's in my new set up. When I bought the car they were at 1.800", but I shimed them all to 1.740"-1.750" during my 383 build up. No problems with my 238 242 .605" .610" 114 cam up to 7k.
When time to replace I'll use the 833's depending on whats out by then.
