Default TR 230 /GTP HEADS = 455RWHP 418RWTQ

These are the parts that I have changed on my engine since the last time I dynoed with the TR224 cam in my car that made 443rwhp and 421rwtq.

TR230/224 Cam
GTP 5.3L Heads milled .015 (11.3:1 CR)
JE Pistons
Lunati 6.125 Rods
Federal Mogul bearings
Stock crank
346 ci

My car was dynoed with full exhaust running through a borla catback, 17 in zr1 wheels, stock driveshaft and flywheel, moser 12 bolt with 4.10gears and the shortbelt mod. All I can say is this engine is sick. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Geoff did an excellent job on rebuilding my engine. In my opinion this heads and cam combo is the best out on the market. I have never had a problem with my car making power since Geoff first installed the 224 cam.

The final Dyno numbers were 455rwhp/418rwtq. <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" /> Thanks to Geoff and the rest of the crew at Thunder for an excellent job on my car. Jsears will post the dyno graph later this evening.

Chris

Just to give you all an example of how much power the car is making, after dynoing my car I took it around the block and broke my drive shaft in half <img border="0" alt="[kaboom]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_bomb.gif" />

Here are the dyno graphs!

TR230/GTP = 455rwhp/418rwtq from 346ci! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
<img src="http://bellsouthpwp.net/j/s/jsears8/TR230GTP.JPG" alt=" - " />

TR230/GTP vs TR224/GTP

You are the man Chris, I can never stay ahead of you dammit! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" /> Guess I will have to drop some weight from my car to keep up. <img border="0" alt="[whiner]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cry.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Patrick G, nice to meet you in person. Sorry to leave so soon but I had to get back in town tonight.

TR230 + GTP heads = 346ci perfection <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Congrats Chris! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> I knew the car was going to dyno pretty good after taking it out for a spin after installing the motor.

455rwhp/418rwtq from 5.3l heads and a hydraulic cam is SICK! <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" />

Hopefully my motor will do something similar. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Jason

Very good numbers. To make that power up top, those heads have to be flowing some very impressive numbers.

I notice from the torque curve that where it starts to drop on the typical heads/cams cars, it stays up on yours. Gotta have some good breathing in there.

Now, add some spray <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Thanks Justin for posting my dyno graphs. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Patrick G it was nice to meet you also.

Thanks Jason, your motor will be just as strong or even stronger. Geoff is the man! <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" />

Thanks WeatherGuy, Craig did an excellent job porting my heads, plus Thunder Racing have an awesome cam on the market that makes power. I am thinking about spraying it later after I am running 10's on motor. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

Those are some awesome peak numbers. However, it looks like you gained a little more topend power over the 224/224 at the expense of a loss of more lower end power. What I mean is that the trade off is not equal. What kind of gears are you running. Not trying to nitpick but am just curious because I will be throwing a cam in my car shortly and am very interested in the 230/224 cam with stock heads and 3.42s. Looking at your dyno graph suggests to me that the 224/224 cam would be a wiser cam for me.

Great #'s!!!

I'd like to see dyno #'s without the shortbelt mod for comparison purposes if you ever go back again.
