Default interesting dyno #'s vs track #'s (not me, but 422ci)

Car: 422ci, A4, locked, big converter, C5, 4.10 gear, basically a big motor with all the trimmings... 476rwhp, 435rwtq... Car goes 11.1@124mph on a 1.51...

What do you guys think of those numbers? Car went mid 124's so it's moving pretty decently... And this is with 28 degrees of timing and around 12:1 compression. These folks all know about race gas vs timing this was the best they can get on pump gas...

Thoughts?

Oh and this car went 95.xmph at the 1/8th, car is local to me... I have been going around 97.8mph so there is definitely something not right with my combo looks like I should be going 126-127mph. This C5 is iron block with a cage and CCW wheels so not superlight...

Thx for discussing...

seems like a definite 126-128 trapspeed car........Cartek's c5's on heads and cam always seem to trap 124 or so, and they have strokers in the 130 range. I dont see why this guy cant

It may just be a peaky motor without alot of under the curve but I will agree thats off by a bit.

what DA?

He's gaining ~29mph on the big end which is decent, whereas your car is dieing on the top end. Locking up the converter probably added 1 - 2 of his mph if that is what "locked" means.

Bottom line is your converter is carrying you through the 1/8 and your motor is not making the HP on the top end.

PSJ, you are delinquent in providing us several key data points for your car! We need to see your ATAP results in high gear on your favorite back road along with the fuel pressure to understand what your timing and O2's are doing!

One other key element you left out in this comparison is the exhaust system...what does he have compared to you?

I just find the HP/TQ #'s very interesting.

C5 has 3" duals and X pipe into Borla mufflers same kind as me.

Sounds like they had the converter locking up too early and it hurts the runs a bit but this was the first time the car has ever been raced in IL.

Sounds like something is wrong to me, a light C5 with a decent stall like that should be running better ET's with the power, and pulling much better MPH. It MPH's like a 435-440rwhp setup.

Eug- yup.

Terry- no idea. FLP dynoed the car a few weeks ago and I think they do a pretty good job I just wondered about those numbers. It's PI converter I don't recall the size.

476rwhp/430rwtq vs 450rwhp/531tq intersting...

Holy cow Terry, a 396 all bore!!!! That is a 4.17" bore. How is it holding up? Those cylinder walls have to be pretty darn thin!!!!

Terry has an offset ground stock crank.

Anyone have the link to a slip on this C5 from when it was in NJ? I see references to a 10.93 and no slip.

I think that 396 has an offset ground crank which means its not an all bore. I think that just slipped Terry's mind.

4.125" bore * 3.71" stroke = 396ci

Anyway, any more comments about these dyno #'s? Car is not light at all, steel block and a rollbar so it's not lite like a Z06.

What are the C5's shiftpoints?

Are they in the 6700-6900rpm range?

If there is a tune in the car for a large nitrous shot (200 plus) the 1-2 shift and 2-3 will be as much as 15-20mph lower than an equivalent NA tune's shiftpoints.

That makes a big difference to NA ET/MPH.

I dont know anything about the background of this car so I am just curious if it is setup to run spray or not.

Cheers,
Chris

I saw that car at FLP.
Sounds BADASS! VERY low to the ground.
I think it is set up to run a big shot of juice.

No, right now it's running NA and tuned for NA.
A few folks told me a black C5 with a big motor running close to my times at Byron, and this car has 28" slicks in back since it has a 4.10 gear.

To be honest I dont know alot im still fairly new in the LS1 world but it does seem kinda low my car is pulling in the 94 MPH range in the 1/8 and mid-high 122's on motor. And it only has a 346 stock short block- T1cam -GTPheads and a HPP3 for tunning

I think the car went 125mph in NJ, so it's performance has not dropped off.

It's running a good size Vigilante converter that they lock up so maybe it loses mph up top.

Again this car is easily 75 lbs over stock weight with all stuff in it.

Anyone know the car from it's NJ days?

PSJ the car was at byron sunday. went 11.1 @ 126 w/a 1.52 60ft.He picked it up a bit but,the car doesn't sound right.The 1-2 shift isn't crisp and the rpm's fall off a bit.The e.t isn't there for the mph and 60ft.

It is a BAD RIDE !

I am sure he will get the few bugs worked out.
