alright so here is my problem.
i am currently installing the lunati 382 stroker kit in my 98 ss, and half way through the proccess i realize that i did not mark the crank when i took it out so now i have no clue as to how it was when it came out. now i am not an expert on these cars or anything but since the car has no distributor the computer contols the fireing of the coil packs, therefore the crank needs to be in the exact possition it was in upon extraction.
any ideas any one can give me as what to do will be greatly apprecaited.
thank you for your time and help.

Ok, just to tell You something, the crank can be put in anyway you want to put it in, as long as the timing chain is installed correctly. Make sure the cam sprocket and the crank sprocket dots are facing towards eachother

junior i understand that but i don't think that will fix the problem. for example if i install the crank with the #1 at tdc and the motor was ready to fire on any other cylinder when i took it out it needs to be set at that cylinder in the firing order or else it will not start. right? or i am i making to much of this?
thanks kc

Don't worry too much with it. What Junior was saying is that make sure the crank gear and cam gear are properly aligned. (Dot to Dot) (or degree it!)
If it really bothers you get a GM service manual and there are instructions on realigning it. I suggest you toss the stock balancer and buy an ATI for that stroker crank. They are zero balanced and you would not have to worry about position.

The LS1 relies on a crankshaft position sensor to calculate misfires. The cam position sensor is what the ignition firing is based off of.
The crank can go back in any way.
