Default need a good cam with stock heads

i need some suggestions on a good cam for a 99z28 with stock heads. i want the most power producing cam i can get without heads or having to flycut my pistons. also what else will i need lifter, springs, retainers, pushrods. will not be able to get heads for a long while so i want everything i can get out of a cam. i dont want to have to flycut my pistons cause im doing the work myself and dont want to take the heads off or will i have to anyways for a cam install.
thanks
billy

also how much hp do you think i will pick up with just a cam and the mods in my sig

Go with the MMS 229, TR230, MTI X1, Fastech F1, or LG G5. These cams are the one's that are putting out the most power. Around 400 with stock heads.

Go to speed inc, go under cams and select the one for 379.99 that has the .525/.525 lift and the 224/224 duration. Makes amazing power with stock heads. I recommend a FULL exhaust system to reap those benefits.

If youre looking for "peak" #'s lots of cams out there. But I have tried a LOT of cams in my car with stock heads and here are the rough results:

01 SS with the following mods:
MMS TB / FLP LT's w-ORP / LID / BORLA

Stock cam: 347HP/352TQ
TR224-114 cam: 373HP/364TQ
228-224 / 530-525 / 112LSA cam: 385HP and 372TQ

I am going to do a 3rd cam change now but its gonna be with heads. Lots of people with a GM hotcam put out over 390 to the wheels but it is VERY important to choose headers correctly. I have FLP headers and I regret buying them. Only advantage is you can change to cats or ORP in 15 mins. I would reccomend SLP LT or Hooker LT's for max power. FLP's have a 2.5 inch Y pipe from a 2.75 inch collector to a 3 inch catback. SLP or Hooker will give you a 3inch exhaust all the way back, no restrictions.
