Default Ported heads

i have a local guy who can port and polish a set of heads and he told me that he can beat any dealers price. Abbot Racing out of crane texas. i am planning on ordering a pair 5.3 heads of a 99 silverado through my work. min. of 300 cfm on intake and 210 on exhaust. he has a flowbench and a good reputation. what do you think about localy ported heads compared to tea ot gtp. what should i tell this guy to do to the heads. should i have them milled i am going with a tr224 561 112lsa cam. it is going on a 98 camaro. any advice would help a bunch.

Ok, nothing against your local porter, but has he done LS1 heads before? These heads are not conventional when it comes to porting and getting strong flow curve. The 5.3 head will probably not get over 300 cfm with out bigger valves and or chamber relieving.I like idea of cutting heads for more compression just no more than .035" or you could have piston to valve clearance problems.
