Fixed mine up today. Im a huge idiot because i found the bolts in my old garage. I couldnt see any cracked on the bottom. But i took a boroscope to the inside and there were 3 good size cracks. Not sure if that was causing a vacum leak. The car seems to drive pretty much the same as before. Little less idle hang. Also did the ls6 pcv valley while i had it off. Alls good thanks for all the help.

Just curious, which boroscope do you have, is it the batter powered one I see advertised? I have one I get from work, but I don't like taking it as it is worth a ton of money and would prefer to have one of my own.

Big ol crack between the last two ports! had to go back to stock for the time being till my new bottom part arrives!

Is there anyway that they can be fixed?

Im not sure on the boroscope i used. We just got it in at my shop. I know its about 4k and has its own 8inch screen tv monitor. I see nothing wrong with fixing the cracks. It worked out really well. Im glad i didnt spend 400 on a new bottom.

Here's a picture of the bottom of a FAST manifold, after a real man tried to install it without instructions.

Good point, Ive just become a stickler for getting the proper torque specs.

Now that I think of it though, I only had the FAST instructions handy and there were no specific torque specs for those so I just tightened them in a star pattern.

Yes, they are blind, I believe. They don't require sealer so that leads me to believe they don't contact oil at all.

Not wanting to seem ignorant, but what are those wires for coming out of the center of the valley cover? My 5.3 doesn't have those.

Edit: Went out to the garage & pulled the intake off, sure enough you can see the indentions of the bolt heads, although I don't see cracks. Hopefully I lucked out! I will be picking up the button head bolts first thing tomorrow!

Sorry to bring up this thread from the dead, but I bought my 90 in 2004 and it didn't come with any buttonhead hardware. I haven't pulled the intake off yet to check it, but I just tightened the intake by hand, hoping mine isn't cracked!!! Anyone have a pic of one with cracks & where I should look? Thanks!!!

Lucky! Mine was cracked in a few places but I sealed them up and it works fine now, no leaks!
