How many mailes are on the engine? Metal particles are a sign of bearing wear. I think you can buy kits to send the shavings in for anylisis(sp?)

Don`t worry about it, I got that too on the last car.. it was kinda soupy metal residue. just **** breaking in. My car ran fine many miles and track visits after that

It`s metal pieces that would be a problem.. even though that also happened to me, half moon chunk of metal on the oil plug when it was stock.
When I did H/C it turned out to be a part of a broken spring retainer. Still ran fine.. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

when I did my head swap, I noticed there was a pretty good amount of metal "dust" still left over from the porter. I cleaned as much out as possible. I still changed the oil after ~300miles and am gonna do it again after ~1000 just to make sure it is all out.

I dont think you have much to worry about, just change your oil at regular intervals.

Dam, that's weird. I just changed the oil, it was the new Mobil 1, it was only in there about 1000 miles. I just didn't like the way it looked on the stick, and I have been running the juice, si wanted to freshen it up. The magnet had more crap on it than it ever had when I ran the Royal Purple.

I think that if I am to continue to spray, I will just use the best dino, and change the oil at 1500. Still cheaper than using a synthetic, and the oil will stay fresh. If not for the spray, I would stick with the Royal purple. I'd say that you have nothing to worry about, unless you start to see big chunks.

Default Small amounts of metal on oil drain plug

I did a head and cam swap earlier this summer as well I switched over to Royal Purple. For the last three oil changes the drain plug has had some very fine metal shavings, almost dust like, on the tip. The car has not lost power, no engine knock, runs fairly strong so far. Any idea as to where the metal could possibly be coming from? I can't recall ever seeing metal on the plug prior to this either. Even after the first factory oil change.

Any ideas? I'm thinking about switching oil to see if that has anything to do with it. Not quite sure though.
