Default Noisy lifter solution?

What can be used to quiet a noisy lifter? I've been hearing things like Mystery oil before an oil change, or b-12 chemtool in the oil then run for a few minutes, then oil change. Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Russ

I have always heard that Aluminum block engines are just naturally noisier because the block is less dense.

I don't know anything about aditives, but my feeling is that you might want to be careful about trying to "get rid of the noise". It could be that the way the aditive get rid of the noise is by gumming up the internals (thus taking up slack). In time though I would think this would prevent the lifter from keeping slack out of the valve train.

I would say just go with a really good synthetic oil and be happy that everything is working.

Now, lets all go out there and eat some RICE!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Actually, it's not for my ws6, it's for my daily beater. Having said that, it should all be the same. I agree that the newer additives are not a good solution as they tend to "coat" the surfaces. However, things like B-12 chemtool are supposed to break down the gunk that is deposited. My beater has 100,000 miles on it, with synthetic oil for the last 25,000 or so. I'm wondering if anybody has used these "cleaners" to clear up the problem?

Thanks.

**edit** Forgot to mention, no rice eating opportunities yet. For some reason noone wants to play with me in either my 77 vette or my 02 ws6.
