Default 96 TA Oil pressure issue

My issue.... oil pressure.. When my car gets warm and I stop my oil pressure drops to redline and the check gauges light comes on. When I start my car and it is cold the oil pressure is fine and while I am driving it is ok. I have replaced the oil sending unit that was pointless, I added STP oil treatment and that keeps it just above red line when I stop. I was told that my car was notorious for doing this when it gets older.. if this is notorious what is the problem. I plan to replace the oil pump this weekend but if that is not the issue what is so I can save myself some time and fix the actual issue. Any suggestions?

Prob. a good idea to go ahead and replace the pump on a 96 LT1 anyway. I am guessing this is a higher mileage motor? May be a good preventive maint.

Does your car hold good pressue at idle? If so, you should be fine.

BTW, check out our LT1 section of this site, it's built specifically to help the LT1 guys troubleshoot their problems. Also, www.camaroZ28.com has a real good LT1 tech section also. Good luck...
