96 TA Oil pressure issue My issue.... oil pressure.. When my car gets warm and I stop my oil pressure drops to redline and the check gauges light comes on. When I start my car and it is cold the oil pressure is fine and while I am driving it is ok. I have replaced the oil sending unit that was pointless, I added STP oil treatment and that keeps it just above red line when I stop. I was told that my car was notorious for doing this when it gets older.. if this is notorious what is the problem. I plan to replace the oil pump this weekend but if that is not the issue what is so I can save myself some time and fix the actual issue. Any suggestions?
Re: 96 TA Oil pressure issue Prob. a good idea to go ahead and replace the pump on a 96 LT1 anyway. I am guessing this is a higher mileage motor? May be a good preventive maint.
Does your car hold good pressue at idle? If so, you should be fine.
