Default 6.0L heads for temporary use

Hey guys, here's a little known fact for you, the 6.0L head is the same casting as an LS6 only it has a bigger combustion chamber, intake ports, and exhaust ports are identical. e-mail me and I can probably help.

Lots have been using them for forced induction applications for a while now. A great option for about 400.00 bucks core charge with valvegod@aol.com and such.

Also, you should be more specific and also mention that is is specifically the LQ9 Aluminum Casting, not to be confused with the Iron LQ4 6.0 liter castings.

Hey Ed, thanks for the info keepem comin . There have been quite a few flow comparisons posted between these two heads on this board. From the looks of things the 6L truck heads outflow the LS-6 heads quite a bit at lower lift levels, with the LS-6 heads taking over up top. Just how much influence did John have at GM when these heads were designed .

I believe both are now aluminum. I remember reading somewhere, that 00+ Vortec 6000s had alum heads. I believe the LQ9 just did originally, and the LQ4s had iron.

The LQ4/LQ9 (both same part number) aluminum heads and the LS6 heads have identical ports by looking at them. I was also told by someone at GM that they were the same ports. I wonder about the flow numbers, the LQ4/LQ9 heads are on a 4" bore.
