Who has the highest mileage on a 382 stroker? A longevity question.
I am wondering what kind of longevity I can expect from a 382- 4" stroke motor. Since I will be investing about $4.5K in parts alone for a short block, I want it to last a while. Is it unreasonable to hope to get 50K miles out of it before a rebuild or refresh? I put 17K miles on my car in the last 7 months as a summer daily driver. That includes about 6 to 8 trips to the track a year with lots of daily street flogging. I will be using a brand new LS6 block with the lunati rotating assembly which includes King bearings and plasma moly rings.

About 26,000 miles on mine and the oil use is less today than it was in the first three months. NO troubles at all with the rotating assembly. I am however very mildly cammed for a 382 stroker (MTI B1) and the car has never been to the track.

I had my 382 rebuilt at 12K miles (not my choice, valvespring failure...) and now I have about 28K on the new engine. No problems yet. Oil consumption is a little more than the stock 346 due to the longer stroke but that's about it. I will probably do another refresh in the 60-80K range.

Assuming normal driving little track time how would you classify the oil consumption on a 382 1qt per 2k miles/better/worse ?
