Default What mods are good?

I was wondering if you guys could give me an idea of some decent mods to throw on my 98 camaro ss. I have about $1000 to put in it right now and I just can't make up my mind. I just wanted to know what is workin for everyone else.

if its an auto, get a stall converter. and a lid and cutout. easy mods, good for fast times. also get headers.

TAPIMP is right .. Thise are the first mods to due on an auto to fun fast times. If it's a 6 speed do the lid and filter, cut out, headers, and 3:73 gears.

sorry i wasn't clear with what i have. its a 6speed.

well some of the stuff i was thinkin of was exhaust(because the 98ss came with a single pipe and it just looks a little funny to me), KNN, clear cover(MTI?), Mass airflow, and throttle body... but my dad sez that this won't do a whole lot unless i bore it out and port it, and well i really don't know how to do that by myself and my dad is against doin to it . is this true or is he just screwin with me ?

What do you think?

Next a cutout is where you cut a hole in the exhaust pipe, and weld on a peice of pipe the same size diameter, and about 2-3 inches long that has a flange to bolt a cover on, so you can cap and uncap it. I have one and a stock exhaust, and I run with it open all the time it sounds good, and is very cheap. About $60 installed.
3.73 gears means upgrade your gears to 3.73, yours comes with 3.42 gears. 3.73s will make you quicker off the line, and allow your car to pull harder.
You can look in my sig for some of the good things to do to an M6 car.

I personally would sugest: Cutout about $60, Lid about $120, Filter (Accel Cool Blue just as good as a Holley or a K&N and 1/2 the price) for about $30, Free ram air, Free EGR mod, Free Throttle body bypass, Free Descreen port and polish your MAF, Free Wide open throttle mod, Fast Toys Ram Air(See fast toys link to the right in the sponsor ads) About $160, And I would Highly recommend Nitto Drag Radials if you plan on drag racing it.
Another part of making a complete car is the suspension, I like my Eibach pro springs about $250, Subframe connectors are very nice about $200, Anti-squat brackets also help alot about $40, Lower control arms about $200.

It all ads up I know see my sickness in my sig!
