You may have some skirt contact with the bottom of the block webbing, to ensure your clearance, install the crank in the motor, torqued it down, install and clearance each piston/rod one at a time w/o rings, number mark each piston top after clearancing to it's respective bore. Rotate slowly and find the interferance points, do your clearance work one cyl at a time and make sure the motor spins freely when done. After all eight have been checked, disasemble the motor completly including main bearings, warm soap and water wash and flush thouroughly. Dry thouroughly, blow the block out with an air gun and let it sit overnight up-side-down if you have the time then re-assemble.

Joe.
