Default Head Studs....Hex vs. 12-Point

I'm getting all the "toys" <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> together for my H/C swap and want to put head studs in. Which should I go with, the hex nut or 12-point nut? Is one stronger than the other? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

I went with 12 points torqued to 75lbs. I like the 12 points better because they are somewhat easier to torque due to design.

Another question.

With head studs can you still remove and install the heads with the engine in the car? I assume the answer is yes but want to make sure.

In general 12-point fasteners are used for high-torque applications or where access is too limited for standard hex heads. I don't see any reason why you shouldn't use them...
