Cam bad?

Cam bad? I have been tearing down my engine (LS1) for the last couple of days for a rebuild and it appears the cam might not be in a usable condition anymore. The lobes that make contact with the lifters are very discolored, they are a brighter chrome in the middle with pits that you can feel with the tip of your finger. Does this mean this cam can't be reused.
