This GTP/TR combo
He'd previously built a 396 LT1/GTP-6 cam S2+ for me and it put down 441/436 on Ed's dyno...then shortly after a Silverado ran into me...
so, I buy an 02 Firehawk. Smooth motor.
Dump the D/D and put a LM on and it puts down 326/346.
no headers.
So I'm thinking how about something like a "hard to tell if it's not stock punch"
we talked about LS6 heads (novelty if nothing else) with top of the line components and a TR 220 or 222 cam on a "non-choppy at all" 115 or 116.
I want it to last though, ~like an OEM motor would (praying?) and still put down some punch and spit out a ZO6.
Car is a 1LE M6, pics and such on site in sig.
C'mon y'all and toss in your $.05; let me know what say you.
Chris
I had a set of GTP heads and a Comp 220/224 .532/.535 114lsa cam for awhile last year. With the idle raised up to ~850rpm, the cam sounded damn near stock, with little "lope" at all. The car pulled good all the way up to ~6700rpm or so, and did run some 10.8's @ ~3300lbs in good air with that combo.
With the advancements in port designs, and the better cams that are out there now, you could easily put together a "sleeper" type package like you're talking about that would lay down some really good dyno/track numbers.
I was also looking for fairly mild, but strong enough to hand a Z06 owner his nuts in a jar. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
I dont understand why you want stealth, but got a loudmouth. Those are contradictory. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />
Please post your LS6 CNC results. I like that idea too.
Thx all! <img border="0" alt="[chug]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_chug.gif" />
<strong>Just had to make the same decision with my 35th LE. Decided to go with the CNC LS6 heads and B1 Cam. Will post results once they are installed in a few weeks. About 40% cheaper than GTP Stage II heads if you count an LS1 core !!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

looking forward to your post.

Everyone has goals and limits. This post is not about building a motor to spank any and every ZO6 on the road.
It's about a sleeper, with quality parts that will perform reliably and be difficult to detect from stock.
and I still could throw a TNT 100 shot on it.
weight diff is about 300 pounds, unless the driver is fat <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
3.73 gearing in an M6 F-body is as close to perfect as you can get.
Tell Craig Chris says hi. The LT1 he built for me ate the times in your sig for you 'vette, btw.
my stroked LT1 (yes, heads too) put down 441 NA.
ask him about it; he drove it. Then ask Ed Wright how fast it ran the rollers on his dyno.
Or... Cheers; time for another beer <img border="0" alt="[chug]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_chug.gif" />
