Default oil pressure super low

i know my car is a LT1 but its a general problem and not prone to just LT1's so if you could, please provide some assistance if possible. i had a set heads and a cam installed on my car and since then my oil pressure has been pretty low but still within acceptable boundries. when i pulled into the driveway last night the oil pressure was REALLY low. it was just a hair above the red zone. when i gave it gas the oil pressure gauge raised just above the 1/4th mark and then when i let off it dropped right back down to a hair above the red zone. is this normal after a heads cam install because of the new cam, or is this not normal at all? possibly the oil pump? any help is greatly appreciated, thanx

Default Re: oil pressure super low

You know I've heard several people who had oil pressure problems on lt1 engines. My brother's 95 formula had to have the pump replaced cause the pressure just kept getting lower. And a buddy at work has an lt1 vette that looks to be going down the same road. If yours hasen't had problems before this then they may have dropped silicon or part of a gasket into the engine. or may have just damaged the sending unit or it's wire lead. In either case I'd be parking it pretty quick cause to you or I this would be equivilent to a heart attack. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> Good Luck...
