Are SLP H/C combos worth the money???

We rate our packages at the crank because depending on the trans and the rear in the vehicle you will get different RWHP #s. It is impossible to test every possible trans and rear combo. Flywheel ratings are industry standard not an SLP standard. Our package is SAE corrected (NOT STP CORRECTED) at the flywheel and will make 525HP with a Fast 90/90, Longtubes, and catback. Do not expect to make this power with stock supporting parts and this head and cam package, it is not possible. Please check out the link below for some results with both AFR heads and our new L92 heads. No "crap" numbers there.

As far as I am aware the lowest price for a 225cc AFR head is about $2450.00 if you are lucky to find that. We are right there. We have some distributors of our parts that we can not sell lower then as we upset the apple carts of our parts. If you want you can shop around at places like LM Performance for a cheaper price on the SLP kit, as they sell our parts as well as many others.
We are not over priced and our power numbers are not high, we do not make them up. Every package is tested on both the engine dyno and chassis dyno before we go out with numbers.
Hope this answers some questions.
Thanks
Hank

I know its wrong to bash a sponsor on the board but come on dude. I live in NJ, I went to SLP days at Englishtown and I saw your shop cars with H/C and even strokers run slower then bolt-on cars from CARTEK, ECS, Vette Doctors and so on.
I don't hate SLP, a very close friend of mine used to work for you, and I did buy an exhaust from you 5 years ago.
Obviously your pricing is very competitive but all I ask is for you to show me ONE SLP H/C car that is running in the 10's consistently. Just 1, thats is all I ask.
3 Years ago I made 450RW with 5.3 Ltr heads, that is roughly 530 Fly wheel HP is we say that a T56 and a 12-bolt with 4:11's rob 15% of engine power. That was with an LS6 intake and a ported stock TB FLP Headers and your LoudMouth. That was 3 years ago.
"Crap" may be a harsh word and one that can not be quantitatively backed up. But one thing that can be backed up is ET and MPH. If your setup is so awesome, and it is so well priced, then a lot of F-Bodies and Vette's in NJ would have your setup on them would they not? So how come they don't? Could it be because SLP never had a car run numbers at the track?
Come on, lets be honest. Do you think you guys can run with shops like ECS, Vette Doctors, CARTEK, TTP, and or Rapid? All shops located within a 3 hour drive of Toms River, all shops run cars at Englishtown, and yet I have never seen one of your cars run with them.
Not bashing, just trying to prevent LS1Tech members from throwing money away when they can get a product that actually works.

Well let me just say this; I can install a set of AFR heads on someones car and guess what? It will run like crap. Why? Cause I don't know much about head porting or installation. In my opinion it is a very similar story with SLP. Plus, I have seen much proof that AFR heads are not the top dogs when it comes to N/A 346 applications. Even the TFS heads are beating them now. And I have beater many AFR headed cars with my LS6 heads. Yes there are some cars running very well with AFR heads, but that does not mean they all do.
My reference to SLP heads/cam as being garbage was not a reference to th components used, but the results they produce.

No problem Selki. I get in fights on here at lot of times for my "opinion" LOL and I do **** talk a lot as well.
Its simply the facts. A lot of people look to SLP because they were associated directly with GM through the Firehawk and SS Camaro programs, but unfortunately they simply do not offer a product that can compete in todays LSx performance world. And having lived in NJ through out my entire LSx involved life, I have never seen an SLP engined car run numbers at the track. They are "in my backyard" so if anywhere, one would imagine to see them test at E-Town or Atco, but no such thing has been seen.
In the NY/NJ/PA area we have many shops what put up numbers;
CARTEK has gone 8.49 with a TT 346cid Z06, where is SLP?
Vette Doctors have gone mid 7's with a sindle large turbo 427cid ZO6, where is SLP?
TTP has gone 10.3 with a light weight A3 H/C Camaro, where is SLP?
I have gone 10.4 with a street driven 6spd H/C car powered by CARTEK, where is SLP?
ECS has a blower Vette running deep in the 9's, where is SLP?
Its not sponsor bashing, its stating fact.

Your a complete idiot. Nothing more, nothing less. I wont even bother to straighten your dumb *** out on this. BUT I will say this.
Heads and a cam dont come pre tuned by anyone. If your dumb enough, and you sound like you are, to install parts without having them tuned then you get what you deserve.
The TFS heads are beating them on the dyno and the dyno alone. IF you want to run your car all day on a dyno just to say you have a better head go right ahead dumbass, you sound to stupid to be on the road in the first place.
recap for you: Your a dumbass, your full of **** and you dont know wtf your talking about at all.
You come out and give head to TFS and then in your above example they arent even on your list. You've just proved to the board your complete ignorance. Errrrrrr I bought a cartek combo and now I'm an expert at bench racing
I'll drop from this thread as I dont need to argue with a hypocritical jackass.

Dude,

I understand this is your opinion. And I respect it.
And this will be my last post to you.
You are making some very general statements about your setup. What was your compression ratio, your cam specs, were your pistons flycut (which is what cartek likes to do.
When comparing setups you have to compare apples to apples. I am not asking for your specs just making a statement that you should already know.H/C cars and strokers running slower then bolt on cars...again too general of a statement. Sure it’s possible, not doubting it for a second. What gear where they running. torque converter. was the car stripped. Tire on the car....I can go on and on. Your statements are too general trying to say that one car is slower then the other. There are too many variables. You being an avid drag racer already know all of this. Again, not asking for details from you, just making a statement.
Not going to get into a pissing match with you over the internet whether or not we can run with other shops. Do our packages match up when put together correctly, absolutely. There is no question.
I do not want this going on forever. Let us just agree to disagree with each other and move on. You don't like SLP, I am ok with that, I know we can not make everyone happy, you are loyal to CARTEK and others. I get it and respect it completely.
Hope you have a good racing season.
Hank

WOW! Nice one!
You are right, I'm running 10.4's with LS6 heads. The example I posted is simply my observation of TFS heads showing more gains on the dyno then AFR heads.
Sounds to me like you are sucking AFR's **** a lot more then I ever promoted TFS. I promoted neither you ignorant ****.
You are right... I bench race SOOOOOO much. Especially when I'm at the track 3 times a week running bests. I do a lot of bench racing you are totaly correct.
You're right, I don't know what I am talking about. Obviously you do, you are ever so smart, can I be like you? I really want to be like you... well except for all the **** sex and ball gags that you and your boyfriend are into. Aside for that you are awesome!
What a jerk-off

I understand your point and as you respect mine, I respect yours. But nothing is stopping SLP from putting a 5500 stall in a car with a big tire. Same as nothing is stopping other shops from doing that as well. I never said you're setups are mismatched or anything of the sort, I simply said that I have never seen an SLP H/C car run respectable times at the track.
Not the SLP trap again. Everyone hears SLP and goes "woooo" ....
IMO, the SLP headers are WAY over priced. Id put money on pacesetters making more power than SLP's headers and their $500 cheaper.
SLP's H/C package doesnt come close to the power H/C packages are making now. They like to use that "525HP H/C package" to draw those unaware in.
Check out AFR's. TFS, ETP and cartek and you'll CONSISTENTLY see great dyno numbers and more importantly, track numbers. Alot of these companies are making close to 500rwhp.
However, I do hear the SLP lids fit great.

Call TSP and get them to hook you up with a head and cam combo for under 2500. And thats including an install kit, a misc other things. You dont need to spend 5 grand to make big power. Heck, for 5 grand, you can get the STS Turbo.

You are exactly right. I am making 507.9 RWHP with LS6 heads.

With that being said... Thank you to all that have put in a sugestion. Ya'll have helped me find the PRC's but I think that it is time to shut this thread down. It has gone from advice to a pissing match. Some, IMO, have stepped over the line with the **** talking and name calling.
So thanks again to all that helped.

Yeah what he said! I own Kraest's old car.. You'd be damn happy with 470+ wheel hp car. They're a ton of fun.
Mine was built by Futral Motorsports. They are a sponsor here, and do fantastic work. Couldn't be happier with this car!
This thread got ugly really quickly
In all actuality, instead of throwing around brand names and having a huge circle jerk about the latest and greatest, many people are forgetting that the COMBINATION OF PARTS WORKING TOGETHER makes the power.. not slapping-on new-found-glory-heads A with huge-cam B.
