Most people here post cam specs in the following fashion:
A/B//C/D//E
ie.
230/234//564/572//114
where
A=Intake duration
B=Exhaust duration
C=Intake lift
D=Exhaust lift
E=Lobe seperation
Hope this helps <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Re: can someone explain the specs on a cam to me please.
Generally higher duration numbers move the powerband up. Generally they give a worse idle quality and worse emissions.
Lift doesn't effect idle quality, but higher lift requires better valvesprings and valvetrain.
Numerically higher LSAs (lobe seperation angle) idle better than lower LSAs, but they shift the powerband up slightly.
So you can expect a 218/218 114 to idle about like stock and make power all over, while a 226/226 112 is going to idle worse, may or may not pass emissions, but make a good deal more power high in the rpm band which is where you'll be when you're racing.

Follow Thunder Racing, they are working on a "old mans cam" that may be perfect for you.They seem to be on top of LS1 solutions. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
