Default Anyone Tap their 99+ Block for GM Timing Chain Damper yet??

Has anyone added the new GM Timing Chain Damper to their block yet?

More specifically, has anyone tapped their block yet for the required bolt holes? Our 99+ blocks don't have the holes for it.

Any issue lining up and tapping the holes? Think I should let my mech do this?

Thx!

Mello....

I thought you were pretty happy with that Jwis chain you had installed on your Corvette.

Are you just thinking about installing the damper with your current chain, or replacing everything with that new heavy duty GM chain upgrade and the new chain damper I saw advertized a while back?

Thanks,
Ron

Oh.. Just saw the pic you posted. That sure looks like a nice setup. Really nice, as a matter of fact!

1. Are the 98 blocks already drilled for this damper's mount bolts?

2. Will that work with a Rollmaster/Jwis [single] timing set?

Heya!

Very happy with the Jwis chain and plan to keep it. Just considering the damper to keep the chain play under control.

GM does have another hvy duty chain now. I don't need one myself. It may even be the Jwis also.

I have an '00 block with no holes to receive the damper bolts. So, I'd have to tap 'em myself. Wonder what it entails. How hard it is to get the holes tapped exactly. If there are any dangers to doing this to the block. Tips/tricks. Do I have to remove the gears and chain to tap the holes?
