Can anyone tell me if the car vin # is stamped on the block on 98 z28's

 

No, its not, just a GM part number for the block and various other numbers. One of these other numbers may link to your VIN though, I am not too sure.

 

you know, im suprised that there isint a chassis specific number on the engine blocks. like back in the day when the last 8 digits of the VIN used to be stamped into the front pad. it would make it a helluva lot easier to tell if the engine has been replaced when looking to buy.

 

Thanks guys, I bought an ls1 from a guy in tennesee and asked him for the vin in case I had a code pop up and he said he could not remember what car he pulled it out of, Then A friend said it might be on the block. Thanks
