They were spring shims that came with the hotcam kit originally, the new Z06 springs you are getting shouldnt need them if you have the one piece seals/shim on your heads.

Nothing wrong with a hotcam, they sound a lot meaner then they are but they make decent power over stock.

Stock 98s dont have the 1 piece seal/shims. Honestly I dont remember if they just gave you the shims in the hotcam kit to bump up the spring pressure a little or what the deal was. I'm pretty sure you will be OK with the newer Z06 springs with no shims. Maybe someone else remembers but I just plain forgot, I put a hotcam in my 2000 and if I remember I didnt use the shims.

The LS6 springs that i am getting are the .550 lift springs from SDPC for something like $52 for the set. These with the hotcam and stock PRs should get me through to my next engine?...not make me get a new engine, lol.

I would think the newer springs with the hotcam would be just fine, worse it will do is float the valves a little at high rpm but I doubt it with that cam.

They only sell the 'newer' z06 springs now. Couldnt buy 01 z06 springs if you wanted to. Actually they are LS2 springs. Tell ya what, paypal me 55.00 and I'll send you a brand new set of those springs in the box from SDPC I never used PLUS a set of PSI 918 style springs I used with a .525 lift cam for only 100 passes. If the z06 springs arent enough the PSI ones will be for sure. I have a bunch of stuff I was going to list for sale but havent done it yet - hard to beat a set of PSI beehive springs with very little use for free..

Send me a PM if interested.
